Penguincw: Grischuk finally won a game from this tournament.
Jan-29-11  carl giraffe: can't say that I understand 21.Qd4+

seems like Smeets just really wanted to go into a severely inferior endgame with an awful pawn structure and undeveloped rooks.

Jan-29-11  Caissanist: Grischuk's 4..Nge7 really confused Smeets here. He used something like an hour for his first six moves, and another half hour for his next few.

HeMateMe: Kinda sad. Wasn't the game objectively drawn, until white allowed the Queen swap? Maybe there was an important football match coming up on TV.
Jan-29-11  crazybird: Sasha said that he's never felt so happy after a win. <R12 video>

An Englishman: Good Evening: Rather odd to see the Cozio Defense Deferred at such a high level of play. I wonder if Grischuk was surprised to find himself winning the game instead of holding the draw.
Feb-03-11  Texas Skybear: Smeets must have a hot date. Indicative of 18.Qd1
Feb-14-11  bubuli55: Grischuk is the Slick Charles.
Feb-14-11  shalgo: Surely 41.h4 and keeping the king active would have been a much better drawing attempt for Smeets.
Feb-17-11  ReikiMaster: 34.Rd3 looks better.
