Mar-12-11  Seaholme: 48...Rxg6 is winning?
Mar-12-11  Akavall: Apparently both players thought that black bishop was on f6.
Mar-12-11  peano: anybody here?
Mar-12-11  peano: move 44 why didn't carlsen take the rook on c7?

  chancho: He missed it.
Mar-12-11  MrMelad: Yeah, that's some pretty hard combination there for a couple of 2800 players to crack by themselves without a computer.
Mar-12-11  selfmate: I'd think this debacle has to be psychologically worse for Carlsen.

At least Nakamura can be happy that he didn't get punished for hanging his rook... TWICE!

And his bishop once.

Mar-12-11  selfmate: <acme: ... And his bishop once.>

Yep :)

Mar-12-11  parmetd: Was this a draw? The amber site first reported white won then a draw.

Mar-14-11  Shiwankshekhar: Boss all that i know about blindfold chess is that player's eyes are covered by a cloth and chess notation are told to him is it true if not pls tell me how does a blindfold chess is played
Mar-15-11  Salaskan: It would be even funnier if the game read 46.Rc7 ½-½
Mar-16-11  Mike I: Take my rook! Nah, I don't feel like it. I insist! maybe later...
Mar-16-11  Bobwhoosta: <Shiwankshekhar>

Blindfold means the players cannot see the positioning of the pieces. Traditionally this was achieved by using an actual cloth blindfold. Nowadays, they use computers with a board that does not have pieces. The only thing the players can see is two lighted squares representing the piece that just moved.

Mar-16-11  beenthere240: Perhaps Carlsen was trying to be sporting - after all, his opponent couldn't see!
