Mar-12-11  zluria: This looks like a horrendous blunder. Karjack just didn't notice that White takes the rook with check! Almost any normal move, i.e. 39. ... Rc2, would leave Black with the better position.

  Penguincw: White is definely superior.
Mar-12-11  wordfunph: 39...Qxf2? and black's rook en prise 40.Qxc4+, Karjakin maybe in deep time trouble.

Penguincw: Maybe he played his move too fast not realizing that 39.♕ captures ♖ comes with check.
Mar-13-11  cjgone: I feel better about blunders after seeing this. :P
Mar-14-11  jmboutiere: "cjgone: I feel better about blunders after seeing this. :P" So do I. In one game Carlsen, my favorite, lost a piece with Kramnik, I think in 2008.
Mar-14-11  sevenseaman: <penguincw> <Maybe he played his move too fast not realizing that 39.Q captures R comes with check.>

Your observation sounds credible. It could more easily happen in 'blind' but in 'rapid'? More like time.

Penguincw: < sevenseaman > Well.Karjakin could be thinking that he'll grab the pawn and be attacking the rook. And when he grabs the rook,it'll come with check.
