Oct-11-11  nilba: Carlsen was better in all 4 games versus Chucky, well deserved title. The decisive point of this game seems to be Nxf5, but the position was looking really bad at that time anyway. The game follows with 40. Kh1 Nxh3!

kbob: Just for us patzers, exactly how does black bust the piece grab 18. g4?
Oct-12-11  I play the Fred: <Just for us patzers, exactly how does black bust the piece grab 18. g4?>

18...Nf4 and if 19 gxf5, then 19...Qg5+ 20 Ng4 Nxh3+ and 21...Qxd2.

I'm a patzer myself, so there may be a problem with that line...

Oct-12-11  Ulhumbrus: <<Just for us patzers, exactly how does black bust the piece grab 18. g4?> 18...Nf4 and if 19 gxf5, then 19...Qg5+ 20 Ng4 Nxh3+ and 21...Qxd2. White does lose his Queen if after having disturbed his king side pawns by 18 g4 he attempts to win the piece in that way.
Oct-12-11  ninja warrior: wow. carlsen is the MAN. black's move 10 in particular is an excellent example of weighing the initiative & deciding to regroup rather than pressing forward recklessly. it pays off as look at that phalanx at the end! black's center is a rock. poor chucky he must have felt like he got stepped on after this one... must be depressing after his stellar start to the tournament. i have never seen such a total positional crush from the black side of the exchange ruy before...
Oct-16-11  Ulhumbrus: After Black sets up a massive pawn centre by 26...d5 the game lasts for only three more moves before White resigns.
Oct-16-11  Everett: <nilba: Carlsen was better in all 4 games versus Chucky, well deserved title.>

Chucky was better vs. all the other players in the tournament, well deserved the title. ;-)

Oct-16-11  awfulhangover: It's amazing that Chucky did not see f4! around move 30 (28-32). Not only did it frees his play, it also threatens to catch the black queen. Nerves?
Oct-17-11  Ulhumbrus: On 28 f4 Bh7 pins and overpowers the pawn on f4.
Dec-20-12  marigam: Can someone please explain to me Ivunchuk's move number 10. Is he being cautious? What other move would have been better?

Please keep in mind that I'm JUST starting to learn chess. I don't know anything about anything. This move just confused me.

Dec-20-12  marigam: Ah! I'm stupid. Ignore me...
