Jan-02-12  sandtime: Nice attacking king walk by Caruana but why didn't Morozevich take the c pawn on move 21 ?

Penguincw: Ouch. Morozevich lost his game.
Jan-02-12  hedgeh0g: <sandtime> Good question. The only conceivable explanation I can think of is that Morozevich wanted more and pushed his luck with 21.h5?!

21.Bxc5 Rc8 22.Bxa7 Ra8 23.Bd4 Nc6 with ...Rxa2+ to follow looks like it liquidates into a drawn ending.

kamalakanta: Hi, guys. Also, later on, why did Moro not take the pawn with 28.Rxa7+?

  kamalakanta: Ok, I think I see something...after 28.Rxa7+ Ke8, if White tries to stop the c-pawn with 29.Rc7 he runs into 29...Rb2+ 30.Kf3 Ne1+! and if 31.Kf4 e5+ wins a piece, or if 31.31.Kg3 Be5+ also wins!
Jan-03-12  kurtrichards: Could've been 2-0 for Fabiano if not for that [shocking] 47. Nc7 in their first meeting... better watch out Ivanchuk. c,)

harrylime: 21.Bc5 looks ok to me. Actually pretty essential !

What was going thru whites' mind at move 21 God only knows !

Jan-03-12  Calar: If Morozevich knew how much trouble c-pawn would cost him, he would surely play 21.Bxc5.
