Aug-11-13  Doniez: Well done by GM Nakamura, even though the lady was not at his level. The final position is a geometric puzzle.

yes, she was clearly outplayed, and i suspect it was an easy game for Hikaru. But in fairness to white, i think she underestimated the sharpness of the opening line. After black's 11th the Bb7 became very strong, and the weakness of the isolani without the dark squared bishop became very apparent. I would have tried to preserve the Bd2.

13.Nxf6?! only succeeded in allowing black to comfortably trade the H pawn for the isolani while retaining the initiative with slightly better pawn formation. But options were limited since 13.N4d2 Nc6 and the isolani is under fire.

19.Qxd4? would give up the 2nd rank to black. So as they say, in for a penny, in for a pound. But the prospects were bleak as black already had a decisive advantage.
