HeMateMe: It looks like white hanging the Knight out on the h file was not thought through clearly enough.
Feb-07-14  rahulthemoron: shakh.i.shekh means "why does not White play 20.Bxd8 (and likely win the game?" Why indeed, i'd like to know too?
Feb-07-14  Nerwal: More often than not two bishops and extra pawn provide enough compensation for the exchange. Here, with the weaknesses on the dark squares and the trouble along the e file, it's also the case, and white's remaining pieces would be quite passive after 20. ♗xd8. Sensibly white prefered to play more actively and keep the strong ♗ clamping the queenside.

AylerKupp: After 20.Bxd8 Bxd8 Black has the 2 bishops and the initiative, and White is very weak on the dark squares. FWIW, Komodo 6 at d=27 evaluates best play by both sides to be a draw by repetition after 21.Qf2 exf5 22.exf5 Ne5 23.Rae1 Bd7 24.Nc3 Ba5 25.Qd4 b5 26.Re2 Bc6 27.b4 Bc7 28.Qh4 Bb6 29.Qf4 Bc7 30.Qh4. This would be the position if this line were followed by both players, although I doubt that they would do so:

But Black has one pawn for the exchange, d5 and e4 under control, and well placed pieces. I'm not sure if White can muster up a k-side attack. So it seems that Black has at least equalized, and White should not have any realistic thoughts about winning the game after 20.Bxd8. So I would agree with Pogonina's decision to not play 20.Bxd8.
