Penguincw: Wow. 159 moves. And of course, it's a ♖♗ vs. ♖ ending (although the draw could've been declared at move 147, 12 moves shorter). :)

FTR, this ending is a win for the superior side 42.3%, a draw 57.5%, and a win for the inferior side once: Z Topel vs N Pares Vives, 2008 (lost on time).

As for the actual length of the game, it now surpasses C Balogh vs A Tari, 2015 (151 moves) for the longest game in 2015 so far. The previous game held that record for about 44 days.

Penguincw: Some more information I found about this game. Firstly, it's 2 moves shy of the longest game ever in the history of this event: Aronian vs L Dominguez, 2010 (161 moves).

Ponomariov got the position he wanted, but instead of pushing for a win, he opted for a material advantage, and allowing his opponent's pieces to get activated.
