Mar-06-16  AzingaBonzer: Bit of a premature resignation by White, no?
Mar-06-16  Mehem: <AzingaBonzer>I don't think so, this ending is completely lost (Nc5-Nxa4). For me, a way more astonishing issue is how Wei managed to lose the position:

in just 4 moves? ;)

Jan-30-17  RandomVisitor: 40.Nxe1 Qxb3 41.Qg5 creates threats and was likely the better way to proceed.

Jan-30-17  ChessHigherCat: Why on earth (or whatever planet this game was played on) didn't black play 17..fxe5??? Was that considered grossly materialistic or were they just trying to "out-weird" one another?
Jan-30-17  fancoudet: <ChessHigherCat> I suppose the problem is that after 17...fxe5 18. dxe5, Black Queen is unable to save the d5-pawn from the discovered attack of White Queen (18...Qe6 19. f5 and 18...Qc6 19. Rac1). So in the end, White are getting 2 free tempi (as 20. Qxd5+ comes with check) and 2 pawns for his Knight while unleashing his b2-Bishop and creating an annoying passed e-pawn and keeping Black under-developed. Also, at all times, the Black Queen is forced to stay on the sixth rank to protect the a6-Knight and cut out the line: 19. Bxa6 bxa6 20. Qxd5+ and 21. Qxa8, which picks up the Rook. So this is Black's strategical mayhem and understandably, Kobalia refused to dive into it.
