Aug-16-19  Honey Blend: 26. ... ♕d3+ should have at least forced a Queen trade and a pawn down, but not immediately losing, endgame.

An Englishman: Good Evening: Black lost a lot of tempi with his Bishops in this game. This might not have been the best way to play a Blumenfeld-like gambit.
Aug-16-19  goodevans: <Honey Blend> Agreed. By putting his Q on f5 then e5 then c5 black seemed to be inviting white to get his pieces into ever more attacking positions.

Good game and a very nice finish.

Aug-16-19  TheaN: It's interesting that the Lion's Jaw is essentially a White response to the Pirc (we're out of Philidor territory now as White voids Nf3), rather than Black playing the signature Nbd7 early. I have a few club members playing this system regularly so I've seen my share, but I may try systems with an early f3 some time.
Aug-16-19  paavoh: Peralta is a seasoned GM from Argentina; strange to see him succumb so easily.

After 29.h6 g6, its was easy to see that the main threat by White was on the a1-h8 diagonal. Perhaps he underestimated his opponent?

Aug-16-19  petemccabe: paavoh: That's what I thought. I think black's last chance to defend was 30 Qh8. It's not an enviable position, but anything else looks like a quick mate.

Breunor: Computer doesn't like 5 .. b5 and black starts falling behind:

1) +0.48 (20 ply) 6.Ne2 Nbd7 7.cxb5 exd5 8.exd5 Nb6 9.Nbc3 Bb7 10.Ng3 Be7 11.Bd3 O-O 12.O-O Nfxd5 13.Nxd5 Bxd5 14.Qc2 Bf6 15.Bxh7+ Kh8 16.Bd3 Re8 17.Nf5 Be6 18.Re1

Computer recommends the more traditional King's Indian:

1) +0.08 (20 ply) 5...g6 6.Nc3 Bg7 7.Nge2 exd5 8.cxd5 Nbd7 9.Ng3 h5 10.h4 a6 11.Be2 b5 12.Bg5 c4 13.Qd2 Ne5 14.O-O Bd7 15.Kh2 O-O 16.Kh1 Qb6 17.Be3

Black falls badly behind with 13 B b7

1) +1.90 (23 ply) 14.Ng3 Qxd2+ 15.Rxd2 g6 16.Bd6 Bxd6 17.Rxd6 Ne8 18.Rb6 Bc8 19.bxa6 Nc7 20.Nge4 Nbxa6 21.a3 Ne6 22.Nd5 Nac7 23.Nxc7 Nxc7 24.Bc4 Be6 25.Rc6 Rfb8 26.Rxc5 Bxc4 27.Rxc7 Rc8 28.Rxc8+ Rxc8

Better is Bc4:

1) +1.18 (23 ply) 13...Bc4 14.Qxd8 Bxd8 15.Bd6 Re8 16.Bxc5 axb5 17.Nd4 Bxf1 18.Rhxf1 Na6 19.Bd6 b4 20.Ncb5 Nd5 21.Nc2 Nac7 22.Nxc7 Nxc7 23.Rfe1 Rxe1 24.Rxe1 b3 25.axb3 Ne6

The next move, though, 14 Nbd7 puts it way out of reach:

1) +3.42 (22 ply) 15.Nf5 Re8 16.Bd6 Bxd6 17.Nxd6 Qb6 18.Nxe8 Rxe8 19.Kb1 h6 20.bxa6 Bxa6 21.Bxa6 Qxa6 22.Rhe1 Ra8 23.Re7 Nf8 24.Qd6 Qa5 25.Qc7 Qxc7 26.Rxc7 Ne6 27.Rc6 Kh7 28.Ne4 Nxe4 29.fxe4

Better is g6 to prevent Nf5 (either before or after trading queens):

1) +1.40 (21 ply) 14...g6 15.Bd6 Re8 16.Bxe7 Qxd2+ 17.Rxd2 Rxe7 18.Rd8+ Re8 19.Rxe8+ Nxe8 20.Nge4 Bxe4 21.fxe4 Nd7 22.bxa6 Ne5 23.Be2 c4 24.Rd1 Nc7 25.a7 Rxa7 26.Rd8+ Kg7 27.Rc8 Ne6 28.Bxc4 Nd4 29.a3

2) +1.61 (21 ply) 14...Qxd2+ 15.Rxd2 g6 16.Bd6 Re8 17.Bxe7 Rxe7 18.Rd8+ Re8 19.Rxe8+ Nxe8 20.Nge4 axb5 21.Bxb5 Nc7 22.Bc4 Bxe4 23.Nxe4 Nd7 24.Kb1 Kg7 25.Rc1 Ra5 26.Rd1 Ne5 27.Nd6 Kf6 28.a3
