FSR: Firouzja under a minute with two moves to play.
Apr-20-24  whiteshark: If you don't have your time under control, you shouldn't ....
Apr-20-24  jphamlore: It might have won material, but I suspect Fabi's 23. .. h3 will go down as a positional blunder, allowing the eventual deadlock.

FSR: Is that really Caruana playing Black? He looks like the young Bruce Pandolfini.

An Englishman: Good Afternoon: Position after 57.Ne3. Looking at 57...Rb2, because if White can get in Nc4 first, he *might* have a chance of erecting a fortress.

Apr-21-24  Atking: Gukesh has won.

FSR: Wow! Gukesh wins! This is the first time in three Candidates that Nepomniachtchi has not been in first place!

FSR: And Caruana wins! That could have been enough for a four-way tie for first, except that Gukesh won!

FSR: Caruana has White against Nepo in the last round, so it's not over yet.
Apr-21-24  jffun1958: I think 74. ... Rxa1!! was the final blow, and Pragg could have resigned after that: 74. ... Rxa1!! 75.Rxa1 Bd2 76.g5 Bxe3+ 77.Kf5
Caruana is now up a bishop for a pawn. Maybe Pragg hoped to promote his passed pawn on e6 for compensation. He actually did later, but it availed him nothing, because Fabi was one ply quicker to promote his a-pawn in return and forced the trading of queens.

Great game !
Candidate for Game of the Day!
