Kibitzer's Corner
Mar-15-08  whiteshark: This is <Professor Dr. <Ingo Althöfer>> from Friedrich Schiller University Jena (Germany).

He has experimented with computer chess for a long time and he wanted to prove that the machines were much stronger when a human was allowed to choose from the best move options. As a rule he chose from the best options of two different programs and with this so called <3-Hirn> (Triple Brain), he played matches against IM Helmut Reefschlaeger (in 1989) and GMs Christopher Lutz (1995), Gennadi Timoshchenko (1996), and Artur Yusupov (1997).

Mar-15-08  sneaky pete: Also see Drei Hirn (Althoefer).
Mar-15-08  whiteshark: Thank you <sneaky pete>!

I think these three games here should also be listed under your <3-Hirn> link.

IMO this <Triple Brain concept> is a simple version of playing as a Centaur.

The latest, multi-extended version (World 3.0) is currently playing here: Chessgames Challenge: The World vs G Timmerman, 2007 :D
