Jun-06-09 | | Raisin Death Ray: Let's do the TransWarp again! |
Jun-09-09 | | Jayhawker: As TransWarp's operator, I am surprised that if they are going to put up a page on TW, that they didn't include all of the games freely available on the web page stated above by timhortons.
Is it going to be the type of page where TW's losses are only shown? As recently, it just beat GM Alexander Khasin 3 games. (Doctor on ICC).
Also, as to what's sad, is that you do see the overall results of TW vs B-Amin, if they want only standard, I will upload the last two standard games vs B-Amin |
Jun-09-09 | | timhortons: <Jayhawker> As i told you before, no human would get excited lookin at a game where rybka is beating human one by one. Im a Nakamura fan but i admit Naka has no match against rybka at all be in blitz and bullet at ICC, just look at the win loss record. But humanoids love to see humans winning. |
Jun-09-09 | | Jayhawker: Re: Namamura's record, Hikaru has one draw vs Deep Rybka 3 Human, which TW uses on a Intel Quad, 8GB RAM which wasn't so prone to the blockade or "Hippopotamus" as my friend timhorton calls it, as was Rybka 2.3.2 mp x64, had a bug, very easy to blockade for a GM of such talent. However, in 82 games since the change, he has achieved just one draw. No slight against him of course.
As I read the upload notes, most of TW's games are Blitz, in which they want at least both GM's, nothing about a computer. So I uploaded a couple more B-Amin games, some by GM Ahmed Adly, IM Krikor Sevag Mekhitarian, and GM Vladimir Kosyrev (Tankist on ICC), Krikor is (TRADE), we shall see what the bigwigs say. |
Jun-09-09 | | Jayhawker: <timhortons> Well, I tried putting a few more standard games in the database, it says up to a week to be approved, yeah, I guess if they wanted to do so, they could glean every loss out of TW to post..but that would be 174 games since Jan 08, 2007 with a total of 11,587 :D Then it could have the lowest rating :) |
Jun-09-09 | | timhortons: <jayhawker>I dont believe chessgames.com would upload all of it.This is not the kind of game cg priorotize. Choose the most exciting ones among the games, or choose a game where TW beat a high profile player, exclude nakamura on these. Maybe wesley so or magnus carlsen. I know magnus used to play with transwarp in the past. |
Jun-09-09 | | timhortons: Why not contact the admin and write a background profile for transwarp, and post the picture of transwarp also. daniel freeman the admin is a very nice guy. |
Jun-10-09 | | Jayhawker: <timhortons> The only problem with Magnus, is that I cannot prove it was Magnus, despite what people had said. The account was always anonymous "Nielsen" So who knows. I've added two games to the blog, GM Bassem Amin won in 2 1 Bullet! Impressive! I'm glad for him, he's a cool guy. I think GM Maxime Vachier-Lagrave saw this bullet win in the history and decided to try a 3 1 blitz game, but was defeated with TW having the Black pieces, this is also posted on the blog. http://transwarpchess.blogspot.com |

Jun-10-09 | | timhortons: <Jayhawker>
The mate that b-amin did to tw is familiar to me.
There are players at icc who do nothing but play against computer everyday, i lost contact with some of them lately. id seen already this mate position more than once against computer in the past. look how his pieces overwhelmed the castled king of rybka3 in a bullet game. looks like b amin know how to execute this so well, just the way naka play his hippo.Hippo is just one of the method of beating rybka 2, believe me my freind, when i was active playing against computer at icc i know that players share tips with each other player on how to beat computer account, maybe 3 to 4 system to beat the computer but the only one i master is hippo of naka, other player with rating of 2400 in blitz has system of there own, one of them i documented his game in my blog in the past, actually a lot of his game, which has a pattern in beating computer account. This is the same guy who advice me to stop playing against computer when free bird start resetting the rating of people who play against computer with violation.I forgot his handle. |
Jun-10-09 | | Jayhawker: <timhortons> Yes, I have seen this attack as well, but more on the black side rather than as white. Oh yes, I see the speculation that AndrinoGiardino might have been Magnus as well...so we might have him playing vs TW as Nielsen and AG...but can't prove it. I believe AG only got one draw, then having achieved that..ceased to play. Yes, here it is. TransWarp vs AndrinoGiardino
White> win loss draw score | win loss draw score <Black
Blitz 12 0 1 96% | 14 0 0 100% meanwhile, the deleted account "Nielsen" actually achieved 1 win and 5 draws in 35 games, but this was vs Rybka 2.3.2a mp x64 back in early 2008. And Wesley So only played 2 games vs TW, but that was cool, but they seem more interested in Standard games, I did read that it doesn't have to be 2 GM's but at least one. And oh yes, I hope all is well, I did take a pic of TW's screen with my cell, but it's only 1.5 megapixels, kind of tough with the contrast and seemed silly to take a pic of the tower :P |
Jun-10-09 | | timhortons: just contact the admin about the possible profile story for transwarp if you could provide one, a profile history could give transwarp life,as well as picture. If you could send the admin the pgn of andrino/magnus carlsen game, then they would be the one to decide if they upload it or not. I actually upload many games of transwarp here but they posted only few. |

Jun-10-09 | | WhiteRook48: what were they thinking of- time travel? |
Jun-12-09 | | Jayhawker: They? As far as I know, I only have one personality <shut up, don't forget me!> <Me TOO!> lol. Nah, it's just a reference to Star Trek and the Borg's fictional warp engine, which is much faster than the Federation's, talked about mostly in Star Trek: Voyager. And I never claimed to be sane, so I just leave my shoes at the door. I could leave my insanity at the door, but then it wouldn't be fun :P But I'm just teasing guys, so you have a good day! :) |

Jun-26-09 | | RonB52734: I now see that the TW page no longer lists a "rating" for TW, and also that TW no longer shows up as the "highest ELO rating in the database." ChessGames.com Statistics Page This is consistent, as far as I know, with the way other computers are handled by cg. It would still be nice to see some more variety of quality games. |
Jun-26-09 | | timhortons: If you check out now at ICC, transwarp once again is few hundreds elo to 4000, amazing how strong GM's would play her again and again though lossing all the time. Looks like beating rybka in blitz is there ultimate goal. If nakamura would only stop tossing his rating to transwarp at ICC he go past Carlsens and grischuk rating already by mile, those two guy<carlsen and grischuk> stop playing blitz after they surpass nakamura record by 1 point and they take good care of there rating by not playing blitz anymore. while nakamura on the other hand keep on beating the humans and what ever elo rating he got he loss everything to transwarp, again and again and again, but not only nakamura loss to transwarp a lot, almost all of strong ICC masters keep on playing transwarp and lossing. |
Jun-28-09 | | Jayhawker: <timhortons> Smallville only plays a few games, not like the old days where he would play for an hour or two, and the most points he loses is 1 per game, so losing 2 points hardly keeps him from achieving the record, he can gain that back and more with one win vs a human. I uploaded Vachier-Lagrave games and several others, but I guess they don't want to post them. Also, TW is only 6 pts from 4000, so I expect mostly bullet games if any...B-Amin tried some bullet today. (It just sounded like TW was far more away from 4000 when you said hundreds, I wanted to clarify is all). But I guess like you said, they only want to see the games where the computer has been beaten. Been far past a week since uploading those games. |

Sep-02-09 | | timhortons: http://transwarpchess.blogspot.com/... Hopefully TW back soon
Hopefully, TransWarp will be back online soon. I am short of funds, I may not be able to get it back online in September, it depends of course on bills. Real bills come first of course, not hobby bills. At least in our household it does! My Dad has helped on the last 6 months, I cannot ask him again, after all, it's not his hobby. The price of cable tv, especially now with HD is so expensive, I would almost go back to the days of when we had to get up to change channels, now one of the first words kids learn is "remote" or "mote"! At first it was easy, we only had two channels to pick from in South Dakota, then it got to three! The horror!! I never saw ABC until I moved to a different town, (or visiting relatives in other towns). So with cable and internet combined, it gets quite expensive, luckily, my Dad covers the internet part, but with all the commercials still on tv, you would think it wouldn't be so expensive...but all this technology . When TW wasn't online a lot recently, I had been fighting pneumonia and now after an mri found out why my shoulder hurts so much, some sort of problem between where the bicep connects to the shoulder, not sure if a tear or what, "flap" something was mentioned, going to look that up next. Great thing about internet, helps me keep up with what my meds do as well as my disability and it's problems. Just go to WebMD or something, don't have to call your doc to explain every little thing. But back to the subject, if I can pull off paying my bills, I will try to get TW back on the first week of Sept, after I figure out my budget, it's not like it's been getting much play lately anyway, I would like to thank ARMCOMPOSER for agreeing to playing some unrated games, personally, I think anyone rated over 3000 should be able to put up 1 rating point. It's not that TW is a point seeker, but it has worked hard to get where it is, plus I have as well ;) Working on books, settings, etc. And after all this work, risking 15 points for a draw and 31 points for a loss, while gaining only 1 point for a win, there's just no incentive. Getting to 4000 1 or 2 points at a time, while going 15 points backwards for a draw, then having to wait for 16 games to get those points back plus 1, while waiting days for games, you have to set some rules. At least TransWarp has ALWAYS accepted any time control! Despite seeking popular time controls like 1 1, 3 1 and 15 0, it's variables just say bullet, blitz or standard, not restricting players to 0 or 1 second increments. This is popular by some machines that are human only, and I think a bit of a cop out. The machine has the advantage, let the humans try to get any advantage they think they need, whether to out blitz the machine with 0 increment, or outthink the machine with 5 seconds increment is the way to go, in my opinion. Then there's sinferno, claiming that every game it played was watched by ICC in setting it's record, there is no way that ICC could watch every game and confirm it followed the rules set forth by the "official" record rating. It has no more proof that it has achieved it's official record over TW's unofficial record other than that it's a Official Developer Account. Sure, I didn't make Rybka, but I never used another engine, always accepted any time control, so other than that I didn't make and develop Rybka, I feel that it's record is just as official. But that's just me. Anyway, I will get off my soapbox and hopefully save enough money to renew TW's account (Oh yeah, the developer's also get free accounts, so they don't have to renew just to keep their record alive for as long as it stands, but if I want TW's unofficial record to stay up there until it's broken, I have to keep renewing my account ). If it's unofficial, why make me keep paying to keep it up there? To keep ICC in the money of course. It's always something. |

Sep-02-09 | | DarthStapler: Scotty would defeat this computer by sabotaging it |
Dec-02-09 | | Jayhawker: Yep, Mr. Scott indeed would do that, pull a little item out of TW and <cough, wheeze> *gasp* She's freefloating in space with a smirk on Scotty's face and Spock lifting an eyebrow in his direction. Good News, TransWarp will be back before the World Cup is over! Dec 3 or 4, look online for the Internet Chess Club: The Wrath of TransWarp! Which means, it will sit there idle until some 3305+ players get brave. |
