JOHN PRENTICE
(born 1907, died 1987, 80 years old) Austria (federation/nationality Canada)

Jonathan was born in Vienna & moved to Canada in 1938, eventually acheiving a respected stature of wealth in the lumber industry. He was a vice-president who represented FIDE at events such as the Petrosian - Spassky World Championship Match (1966) closing ceremonies during part of his 1957-87 term. Between 1955-71, he also served as President of the chess zonal federation in Canada, the organizing and sponsorship of the Fischer - Taimanov Candidates Quarterfinal (1971) being one of his culminating chess career achievements(1).
