(Latvian spelling Pāvels Atars). Pablo Atars was a Venezuelan player of Latvian origin. An international Greco-Roman wrestler in his young days. Organizer of the famous “Betins Memorial” Latvian Gambit correspondence tournaments from 1967. He tried many new ideas in the Latvian Gambit.
