MissScarlett: Chicago Daily Tribune, March 7th 1957, Part IV p.8:

<One man was killed and three others were injured last night when a small chartered airplane crashed in a field about three miles east of Grant Park, Kankakee county.

Dead was George A. Stevens, 38, of Sherman Oaks, Cal. Injured were Dr. Gail Holey, 38, of Terre Haute, Ind., reported in critical condition; Herman J. Rensing, 48, of Santa Maria, Cal., and the pilot, Vernon E. Hux, 29, of Terre Haute.

The cause of the crash was not known. Rensing told police that when the plane came out of an overcast it was flying upside down, and crashed seconds later. He said the passengers were unknown to each other. He said they had hired the plane in Indianapolis, to continue on to Chicago, after leaving a commercial air liner whose flight terminated in Indianapolis.>
