Dec-18-11  wordfunph: excerpt from the book Garry Kasparov on Garry Kasparov Part 1: 1973-1985 by Kasparov..

<My first real teacher was Oleg Isaakovich Privorotsky, a strong candidate master and later an honored trainer of the Azerbaijan Republic. He immediately noticed my chess memory and my ability to shut myself off from the outside world during a game. And after the first few lessons he remarked in surprise: 'I don't know whether there have been similar beginners in other towns, but there has been no one like him in Baku!'>

Oct-19-13  epistle: In "Unlimited Challenge: the Autobiography of Garry Kasparov" (co-written with Donald Trelford) it goes like this:

<My first trainer was Oleg Privorotsky. He remarked immediately on my memory for the moves and my ability to cut myself off from my surroundings during a game. 'I don't know whether other cities have similar beginners, but there is certainly no one like him in Baku,' he said with amazement after my first few lessons.>

He himself was trained by Suren Abramian.
