Jan-23-08  Tomlinsky: I believe it is, yes.

An Englishman: Good Evening: And rather a nice won-lost record--100% is not bad. Granted, it's only one game, but considering the opposition...

GrahamClayton: Parham served in World War 1, so he must have been in his late 60's or early 70's when he defeated Fischer.
Dec-25-10  talisman: Fenner qualified but relative Bernard played?? anyone know anything about this?

Stonehenge: <I just spoke with Bernard Parham and he said that Fenner Parham is an ancestor of his who registered for the event, but Bernard is the one who actually played>.

Dec-25-10  talisman: thanks stonehenge and merry christmas.
May-02-19  hamchess: Fenner Parham is unrelated to Bernard Parham 1. As the son, I'm familiar with family history dating back to the late 1800s. My dad attended Indianapolis' Crispus Attucks High School during the 1964 simul.
May-02-19  hamchess: Since 1989, I began a collection of my dad's games. The mythical game against Bobby Fischer has never been mentioned nor shown in my 41 years of life. As chessplayers, we expect external proof - original scoresheets, eyewitnesses, crosstables & event reports.

MissScarlett: So what you're apparently saying is that your dad was lying when he claimed i)he was related to Fenner, and ii)that he played the game vs. Fischer. Is that right?

Stonehenge: <Fenner Parham Jr. sold insurance and lived in his parents’ home in Mississippi, recalls his friend, Jerry Krouse. He was muscular but shy and a bit eccentric, frequently reciting the works of Edgar Allan Poe.

“It was an attacking game, and Fenner was an attacking guy,” Krouse said.>
