 | | dakgootje: blugh, I missed the Qe8 idea in the Tal-game :( That is, to play it immediately. Was playing around with it after retreating the f8-bishop. Had glanced for perhaps 3 seconds at Qe8 immediately but instead decided it would be idiotic. So yeah - that was a shame. Makes a 7-point difference all in all. Finished just slightly over par now, I think 47 at par-45. Guess I'll guess a new Guess-tm. |

 | | brankat: <Carlsen did end up winning the Tal Memorial. Lucky with everything, even the tie-break rules :-)> He might be lucky again in London :-) |

 | | SwitchingQuylthulg: <dak> I scored 55 in that game, back in the day... but I didn't get Qe8 either. I did spot it and even decided it worked, but somehow managed to convince myself that hxg4 was even stronger! :( (hxg4 should still win, so at least that wouldn't have cost me the game... unlike most of my GTM blunders :p) |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Switch> excellent <Speilmann> additions thank you- I've added them all, but I still need to sort out the chronology. I noticed you made a shadow Fawn Pawn collection which is already larger than mine- heh
I linked your shadow Fawn collection at the top of my Fawn collection. I'm not sure we need to merge them? We have each other's linked at the top so we can just check each other on new entries to avoid duplication. As always, however, bear in mind that I rarely actually know what I'm talking about. I did enjoy you demonstrating on the admin page today that you know how their site works better than they do. hahaha very nice, and that other bloke was really happy for your input eh? HAHAHAH nice work, nice work. |

 | | dakgootje: <I scored 55 in that game, back in the day... but I didn't get Qe8 either.> Interesting. The points I missed there was the only major fault since I started playing the game again. Missed a single point with 23. Nxg6 instead of the played Nxd5. So apparently I must have missed quite some in the opening. In all honesty, I don't remember. For what it is worth, I played 26. Bd6 instead. After either 26. ..Bd7 or Be6 white looks fine although I had no clear ideas how to increase my advantage. |

 | | brankat: A (silly) question: What is "Fawn Pawn"? |
 |
Dec-03-11
 | | Benzol: <brankat> Game Collection: Fawn Pawns contains the explanation. |
 |
Dec-03-11
 | | brankat: Thank You <Benzol>. A fascinating collection indeed! |
 |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <branko, benzol> Here is Switch's longer, better organized chapter on FAWN PAWNS: Game Collection: More Fawn Pawns |
 |
Dec-03-11
 | | brankat: Yes, there are quite a few memorable games there. |
 |
Dec-04-11
 | | Benzol: I shall enjoy playing through them. Thanks.
:) |

 | | dakgootje: Well, I convinced Mr Loanshark I was a good investment, so he lend me some monies. Most of my dinar are on the pick-3, for which I used TD-formula 51675. This will be a sure win. |
 |
Dec-04-11
 | | SwitchingQuylthulg: <dak> Tell Loanshark you're receiving special betting tips from me. That will increase your credit rating ;-) |
 |
Dec-04-11
 | | dakgootje: I shall do that tomorrow - when I'm broke again. |
 |
Dec-04-11
 | | dakgootje: crap..
Thought I was going to cash big with draw-draw-black.. had completely forgotten Naka beat Aronian. Back to the drawing board. |

 | | brankat: When I asked for the loan the shark offered me $200, with options of <yes> or <no>. Is there a way there to ask for a bigger loan? |

 | | brankat: DBB translates as: 166.2 to 1 X 5 = 833 :-)
Back in the positives! But, for how long? |
 |
Dec-07-11
 | | SwitchingQuylthulg: <brankat> Probably until I climb back there - we seem to be a counterweight system ;-) |
 |
Dec-07-11
 | | brankat: Have You seen the last post in my forum? :-) |
 |
Dec-07-11
 | | SwitchingQuylthulg: <brankat> Spammers find your forum popular and stylish enough for it to be their first choice for advertising in? You should be flattered :-) |
 |
Dec-07-11
 | | brankat: Funny, but I don't feel flattered at all :-)
So, I reported the thing to CG.com forum.
Anyhow, I didn't know how to post a link to the specific post in my forum. So, if the admin wants to visit the forum, he'll have to look for the post. I never knew how is it done: to get to the exact post :-) |
 |
Dec-07-11
 | | SwitchingQuylthulg: <brankat> Perhaps you should have just blown the whistle - as it is, you're doing the spammer's job for him :-) |
 |
Dec-07-11
 | | brankat: I had forgotten about the availability of the whistle :-) Still, how is that post-link thing done? |
 |
Dec-07-11
 | | SwitchingQuylthulg: Two ways to get a link to the exact post:
1) Find the right post with Search Kibitzing, right-click on the link and select "copy link" (or whatever similar option your browser offers). 2) (this only works since you want his latest post in your forum) Go to his user profile (User: %77ww.charliechess.com), find your post, right-click on the link and select "copy link" (or whatever similar option your browser offers). Be sure not to left-click the link, as this personalizes it. It will still work for you, but it may not work for other users. |
 |
Dec-07-11
 | | brankat: Just tested the method(s). It actually worked :-) Thank You. I'll copy the above post in my forum for future reference, so I don't need to burden my memory, nor bother You again :-) |
