<Ja!> Keine andere Liga der Welt kann mit 130 Großmeistern aufwarten. Die gemittelte Elozahl der jeweils ersten acht lag in der Saison 2007/08 bei 2580. Der Mittelwert der tatsächlich eingesetzten Spieler lag bei 2527 Elo. Nominell stärker besetzt ist nur die Russische Mannschaftsmeisterschaft, in der mehr als ein halbes Dutzend Mannschaften gemittelt über 2600 Elo an die sechs Bretter bringen. Lull or no lull, the Bundesliga is still on and world champ Vishy Anand just showed Stellwagen that his surprising use of the Najdorf Poisoned Pawn against Grischuk in Linares last month wasn't a one-off. The Dutchman went for 13.Bb5, which in some lines is little more than a spectacular forced draw -- one of many in the PP. (Shabalov-Areshchenko 2006 is typical of the breed.) <<<But Anand gave up his queen right off in a sideline that goes back to 1968 and both sides played to win. A wild game ensued with White pinning hopes on his passed h-pawn and Black generating threats and hoping to keep his king safe long enough to use his material advantage. Wonderful chess. Vishy won the day,>>> but it's wasn't as one-sided as you might think. PGN after the jump. Svidler beat Nikolic, who missed class the day discovered attacks were covered. Ouch. Unfortunately for Black his terribly exposed Black g8-king makes a great <SECOND TARGET> for a <DOUBLE ATTACK>, 36 ♕e3-g3+ 1-0. 35 ... ♖d8xd6?? <weak back rank?>
