Asian Continental (2019)

The 18th Asian Continental championship was a 9-round Swiss played in Xingtai, China 7-15 June 2019. There was no rest day. Rounds 1-8 started at 2 pm, Round 9 at 9 am local time. Time controls: 90 minutes for the first 40 moves, then 30 more minutes to the end of the game, with a 30-second increment per move from move one. Tournament director: Casto Abundo. Chief arbiter: Haroon or Rashid Md. First place prize: $11,000. The top 5 players would qualify for World Cup (2019).

Le Quang Liem won with 7/9, ahead of four players with 6.5/9.

The blitz event on June 15 (at 3 pm, immediately after the main event) was won by 14-year-old Sarin Nihal with 8/9 (http://chess-results.com/tnr448034....)

Curiously, the championship is being held in China but the strongest Chinese aren't participating.
