Jun-18-07  Karpova: <malthorpe>
At least the last game doesn't seem to end so peaceful. Nikolic is slaughtering Stojanovic and just won the exchange
Jun-18-07  malthrope: Yes - it's been that way awhile now... Re: Nikolic-Stojanovic... ;-)
Jun-18-07  Karpova: Stojanovic went for an endgame with rook + bisop pair against Nikolic's quuen + bishop

Nikolic is indeed disembowling him...

Jun-18-07  malthrope: It's not over yet this is the best postion that Stojanovic has had in sometime! Drawing prospects are quite possible it's not easy to breakthru here... :-)
Jun-18-07  malthrope: Well, it's too bad... Mihajlo (in time pressure even with the 30 sec increments) played 50... Bd8?? which allowed 51. Qc5! and penetration follows... With 50... Kf8 he could held on much longer. ;-)
Jun-18-07  percyblakeney: Even if none of Karpov's opponents are top 50 these days, a couple of them have been top 10, Nikolic in the late 80's and Georgiev in the early 90's.

After six rounds it's Atalik, Karpov, Roiz and Ivanisevic in the lead.

Jun-19-07  a30seclegend: What a high percent of White wins in this tournament. Is this the highest percent of White or Black wins in a tournament recorded?
Jun-19-07  Mameluk: Good blunder from Nikolic today.
Jun-19-07  capablancakarpov: 14 moves and 3 minutes remaining for Karpov..
Jun-19-07  malthrope: <capablancakarpov> The Time Control is '120 minutes/+30 seconds' (from move #1) with no additional time or increments added... So, it's just an extended long Blitz game for him (he has no specific number of moves to be reached). It's the same TC being used at the - Aerosvit (2007) - tourney... ;-) - Mal
Jun-19-07  doremi: It looks like Karpov blundered a piece in time trouble and resigned, oy!
Jun-19-07  Goran: Fantastic Roiz !!!
Jun-19-07  malthrope: Yep - Karpov couldn't hold it and lost a piece... 1-0 on the 43rd move. Roiz and Atalik are the sole leaders now (Ivanisevic drew) with 5-2.
Jun-19-07  ardarel: Roiz played very well, and that was was the cause of KarpovĀ“s troubles...time included!
Jun-19-07  malthrope: Make that the 44th move - they added a move (44. Rb1)... ;-)
Jun-19-07  Goran: Kiril also won
Jun-19-07  Goran: Roiz had bishops pair "advantage" in 5 games out of 7 rounds! He surely loves them :)
Jun-19-07  percyblakeney: With two rounds to go Karpov shares 4th with Damljanovic, and has Pavasovic and Stojanovic left to play.
Jun-19-07  Eti fan: Roiz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jun-20-07  Goran: Pavasovic using the same line against Nikolic as Roiz did
Jun-20-07  Eti fan: Karpov is winning!!!!!! great.
Jun-20-07  acirce: Yes, Karpov is winning with White against Stojanovic - position after 22.Qh4:

Nice fianchettoed rook. Rybka gives +4, and White has several ways to win no matter what Black plays.

Jun-20-07  Karpova: Wow, what a demolition! Karpov is back to +2 after completely crushing Stojanovic!! TOLYA!!!!!
Jun-20-07  joebuck: Nice mate by Karpov!!
Jun-20-07  borkoto: what the hech was Stojanovic thinking?
This is ridiculous, getting mated as if he were some patzer in school , maybe he payed tribute to Karpov in the wrong way.....
