Russian Championship Higher League (Women) (2014)

The 64th Russian Women's Championship Higher League tournament was played in Vladivostok, Russia 4-13 June 2014. Rest day: June 9. Time control: 90 minutes for 40 moves, then 30 more minutes to the end of the game, with 30 seconds added per move starting from move one. Rounds started at 3 pm (Round 1), 1 pm (Rounds 2-8), and at noon (Round 9), local time. Prize fund: 700,000 rubles. Chief arbiter: Igor Bolotinsky. The top 5 players would advance to the Superfinal.

Olga Girya won on tiebreak ahead of Kashlinskaya. Kovalevskaya (3rd), Gritsayeva (4th) and Goryachkina (5th) also went to the Russian Championship Superfinal (Women) (2014), while Voit (6th) missed out on tiebreak.

Yes: Girya, Kashlinskaya, Goryachkina, etc. would all be strong candidates to win the US Women's Championship.

  eternaloptimist: I had never heard of Girya or Kashlinskaya before I checked these tourney results but since both of them are 2400+ players, they are needless to say forces to be reckoned w/!
