May-23-06 | | devilwolfdog: I just noticed an interesting pattern on wins at the 2006 MTel Masters tournament. The number of wins correlated directly with the finishing order: Topalov: 5 Wins
Kamsky: 4 Wins
Anand: 3 Wins
Svidler: 2 Wins
Ponomariov: 1 Win
Bacrot: 0 Wins |
May-23-06 | | Maatalkko: Bacrot had no wins? He's not getting invited back for sure. |
May-23-06 | | Bobak Zahmat: <devilwolfdog> So the anti-draw rule works after all :)! |
May-24-06 | | ikipemiko: The anti-draw rule works really, 50% of the games were decisive, that's very high percentage for a supertournament. |
May-24-06
 | | plang: Hopefully, they will start using this format in more tournaments. |
May-25-06
 | | jaime gallegos: Ponomariov finished 6th with the same score Bacrot did ( 3,5 points ) ... however Pono won 1 game and Bacrot none !!! Why is Pono on the last position ??? |
May-25-06 | | Topzilla: Congratulations again to the World Champion Topalov for winning again Mtel Sofia. |
May-25-06 | | Trouble: I don't think rating inflation is as bad as people think. Main reason is most of the guys playing the supertourneys only play the super tourneys, so the points get recycled for the most part. I think its safe to say that the players of today are stronger than the players of the past...just like in athletics simply because the training methods have improved so much. |
Jun-09-06 | | MagnaPsygnosis: I would love to see the real masters play in the Mtel 2007. They are off- coarse: Gary Kasparov
Boris Spassky
Bobby Fischer
Topalov
Leko
Rybka 64Bit |
Jun-13-06 | | Rocafella: Off topic I know, but I really like your profile <MagnaPsygnosis> Very thought provoking |
Jul-02-06 | | mahmoudkubba: I am little afraid that even in a far land to me maybe like Bulgaria I can see or may be a false transmition that the teenage bad boy I always have to follow to stop his badness is in within the pics maybe. What a sad day it is today then as it is the day I realized that.(I know I shall one day for my such good doing to a such boyaa shall receive at least either a !! remark or a two fils or both HaHaHa). |
Jul-15-06 | | MagnaPsygnosis: <Rocafella>
G... thanX... i guess |
Aug-23-06 | | Bobak Zahmat: <plang: Hopefully, they will start using this format in more tournaments.> For Dortmund perhaps? |
Sep-24-06 | | samsal27: Something tells me that Vesko's Houdini act in this tournament will be repeated in the WCC ... |
Nov-02-06 | | positionalbrilliancy: Seems whatever told you that was wrong. |
Nov-02-06 | | aw1988: No, absolutely right. Psychological influences have always been a part of it. Except in this case the same pitiful case is being repeated ad infinitum after the match is finished. Of course I don't think the same toilet issue will be brought up again but the general influences do exist. |
Jan-17-07 | | suenteus po 147: Here's the invitation lineup I see for Mtel 2007:
1. 1 Topalov, Veselin BUL 2783
2. 2 Anand, Vishwanathan IND 2779
3. 4 Mamedyarov, Shakhriyar AZE 2754
4. 7 Aronian, Levon ARM 2744
5. 11 Radjabov, Teimour AZE 2729
6. 19 Kamsky, Gata USA 2705
(if Aronian declines again, replace with Ponomariov)
Using current ratings, this would make the average ELO 2749! What category tournament is that? |
Jan-17-07 | | percyblakeney: <Using current ratings, this would make the average ELO 2749! What category tournament is that?> I've no idea, but if Radjabov, Topalov and Aronian keep gaining points in Corus the average ELO could end up a bit above 2750, not bad at all... |
Jan-17-07 | | gmgomes: Was Kramnik invited? |
Jan-17-07 | | suenteus po 147: Considering that Danailov has invitational control (or something to that effect) I doubt Kramnik will be reappearing at Mtel any time soon. Even if they did invite him, there's the question of whether he would attend or not. |
Jan-17-07 | | suenteus po 147: <Disclaimer> The invite list above is a <prediction> on my part and in no way accurate as to who will be really attending Mtel this year. |
Jan-21-07 | | PeerGynt: I put my bucks on win for Topalov for pure statistical reasons. Anand was frustrated during the last two games. Usually he plays poor in such cases. It was the 8th round of the tournament. I all recent tournaments Topa started his final push in rounds 7-8 and he almost always wins the 8th game. It was a cake walk to predict this game. |
Jan-28-07 | | PinkPanther: <suenteus po 147>
I hope to god your prediction isn't right. I'm sick of seeing the EXACT same players in every super tournament. You know that the fields for Corus A and Linares are almost exactly the same, don't you? |
Jan-29-07 | | positionalgenius: I thought Mtel 2005 was a great tournament. Last years event was really dull,except for a few games.(Like anand's win over topalov). |
Feb-23-07 | | suenteus po 147: Roster update:
Apparently, according to veselintopalov.net, the following four are assured of invitation to Mtel 2007: 1. 1 Topalov, Veselin BUL 2783
2. 4 Mamedyarov, Shakhriyar AZE 2754
3. 9 Adams, Michael ENG 2735
4. 19 Kamsky, Gata USA 2705
Anand has already stated he will not be participating, and the prospects don't look good for Kramnik's invitation either. So who will be the two other invites? Aronian and Ponomariov, popular choices that they are, will probably opt out to prepare for the candidates matches occurring immediately after Mtel. In fact, it's impressive of Adams and Kamsky to participate here for that very reason. I would think the safest bet is to invite those who aren't involved in the candidates matches: Ivanchuk, Radjabov, Polgar, etc. |
