Chessgames.com Chess Event Description
Palma de Mallorca (1966)

Also known as the II Torneo Internacional de Palma de Mallorca, the tournament was sponsored by Hotel Jaime I and the Palma tourist industry, the publishing corporation Asociación de la Prensa and the Spanish Chess Federation. (1) The budget was larger than for the modest Palma de Mallorca (1965), and attracted several strong GMs, including ex-world champion Tal. Half of the players were on their way home after the Olympiad in Havana (Cuba), which had ended 20th November. (2) Tournament Director was Jorge Puig Laborda, and chief arbiter was Harry de Graaf. (3) The event got a thumbs-up, and was continued with Palma de Mallorca (1967).
