JointheArmy: ^The fact that Putin fishes with his shirt off makes him a badass.
Aug-29-07  gmgomes: Can Jakovenko swindle again? After 23.... Rac8, he looks toast.
Aug-29-07  IMDONE4: Jakovenko, Hua, and Bu look to be in trouble.
Aug-29-07  gmgomes: <Jakovenko, Hua, and Bu look to be in trouble.> I think Hua and Bu have decent drawing chances; Jakovenko is very hard... maybe forcing an opposite colors bishop endgame.
Aug-29-07  gmgomes: Tatiana seems to be wining now.
Aug-29-07  Mameluk: Bu was probably never even worse.
Aug-29-07  gmgomes: Bu´s game is heading to a draw, unless Inarkiev blows it in time trouble.
Aug-29-07  gmgomes: Hua has a tablebase draw now. (after 52.... Rh2)
Aug-29-07  chessmoron: Men: Zhang defeats Jakovenko with Black

Women: T. Kosintseva defeats Huang, Qian but Shen Yang defeats Tairova

China won 5.5-4.5 today.

After Round 10, China leads 46.5-43.5 with the FINAL SHOWDOWN tomorrow.

Aug-29-07  alexapple: China men's team won two rounds in a row. GO!
Aug-30-07  MarvinTsai: Chinese Women team all have beautiful first names :-) Yang(sun),
Lu(dew)-Fei(beautiful),
Xue(snow),
Qian(madder),
Yue(jade)
Aug-30-07  percyblakeney: Including Tairova hasn't been a success for the Russian team, she has five losses and one draw in her last six games. Maybe they would have done better with Pogonina or Galliamova instead.
Aug-30-07  gmgomes: At this moment, there are only 4 active games; the 6 ended games were 2 wins for China and 4 draws.

So china is leading at this moment 5 points ahead; even if Russia wins the 4 remaining games (which is not likely to happen), China will be at least +1.

CONGRATULAIONS FOR CHINESE TEAM.

Aug-30-07  whiteshark:

<MarvinTsai> Do you have any relations to: Cindy Tsai ?

Aug-30-07  chessmoron: China won by +5 against the Russian team.

+1 for the Chinese men (which is very crucial)

+4 for the Chinese women

Aug-30-07  hellopolgar: <whiteshark> thats obviously very unlikely. i mean, completely unrelated people have the same last name all the time.

ok the russian male team is definitely their second tier but they sent the best female players. on the other hand, china sent the best male players of theirs but they have better female players at home.

Aug-30-07  princeofdragons: Does anyone know when will China-UK will?
Aug-30-07  alexapple: Great performance for China men's team!!
Aug-30-07  s4life: china men won again, despite the fact that Bu blundered a sure win and got a draw instead.
Aug-30-07  chessmoron: <s4life> But here: http://docs.google.com/View?docid=d...

It said Bu won BUT on the PGN and on the live game said draw. Confusing!

Aug-30-07  s4life: <chessmoron> Thanks, the draw looked strange.. that explains it.
Aug-30-07  chessmoron: Congratulations to Wang Yue for being the first Chinese ever to reach the 2700 plateau. +2 in Taiyuan with 2 victories against Ivan Cheparinov and +2 in this match.

Wang Yue is looking for more points in September 4th as China takes on UK.

****************

Alekseev +17 in this match and also making the 2700+ barrier.

Aug-31-07  14 Dog Knight: Yay China! On the other side: Go Alekseev!
Aug-31-07  pawnofdoom: According to www.chessbase.com, Bu Xiangzhi won Bu Xiangzhi vs E Tomashevsky, 2007 and ended with 5/10, not 4.5/10 like it says here.

What is the correct result supposed to be?

Aug-31-07  dehanne: How's "Owned" in Chinese?
