Introduction
Mr Geo. Newnes, M.P., offered £25 for a triangular match between Lasker, Mason, and Bird. Messrs Gunsberg and Blackburne having asked permission to participate in the match Mr Newnews has given a further £25, and the match amonst the leading players of England will commence on Monday at 2 p.m., at the British Chess Club. Two games are to be played with each other, twenty moves an hour, play to proceed daily from two to six, and from eight to eleven, the stakes to be divided according to the Sonneborn-Berger system.
