Steakanator: For a while I was curious why Kolisch wasn't in London for the 1862 tournament (or in London but didn't enter the tournament, which didn't seem likely). It looks like I have my answer.
Nov-20-24  notaGMyet: Can somebody explain why the first game is reported as 1-0 for Shumov but the game says it was won by Kolisch?

jnpope: Turns out <CG> has had the wrong version of the first game (noted a long time ago Shumov vs Kolisch, 1862 (kibitz #7)).

I checked Zavatarelli's <Ignaz Kolisch> book and his citations lead to <Shakhmatny Listok>, n41, May 1862, p98, for the earliest version (where Schumov won) and a later version given in <Le Palamède Français>, v1 n13, September 1865, pp28-30 (where Kolisch won).

I've updated the game to the version given in the earlier source (which now matches up with the xtab) and I have added source tags to the PGN.
