The first Gibraltar Masters tournament was a 59-player 10-round Swiss held in the Caleta Hotel, La Caleta (Catalan Bay), Gibraltar, 28 January to 6 February 2003. Main sponsor: Gibtelecom, the largest telecommunications provider in the British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar.
