Timman - Ivanchuk (1991) |
"The match that traditionally pits Jan Timman against another elite player in the charming Dutch city of Hilversum ended this year with another defeat for the national idol. The role of host doesn't suit him well, as can be seen in the attached table of previous matches. Ivanchuk took a comfortable lead after winning the first two games, only losing the last, and winning 3½-2½. There are fears that this may be the final edition of the event due to the upcoming retirement of the organizer, an executive of the KRO radio station." (Jaque, transl.)
