The 58th Russian Women's Championship Superfinal was played in the Central Chess House, Moscow, Russia, 5-14 December 2008. Rest day: December 10. Chief organizer: the Russian Chess Federation. Prize fund: 1,7 million rubles. Time check: 90 minutes for the first 40 moves, 30 more minutes to the end of the game, with a 30 second increment from move 1. Games started at 3 pm, Round 9 at noon. Several players were tired after the Dresden Olympiad (Women) (2008) in November, and Alexandra Kosteniuk refused to participate. Nadezhda Kosintseva won with 6.5/9.
