I tried to respond sooner, but my post attempts were being blocked by MissScarlett. She UNFAIRLY assigned RESTRICTED KIBITZING for my summary above. The referenced August 11 posts are below for all to see. MissScarlett created this off-the-mark game pun on a Monday as a personal invitation reminder to her selected few to fly to London. Frank Sinatra has nothing to do with a 1908 chess game in Poland. As anyone can see, I told it like it happened and now I AM BEING PUNISHED forever. MissScarlett got caught abusing her privileges again. People freely comment on the pun of day here, but I am being punished for doing the same thing others do every day. MissScarlett loudly rejects the puns of others. She misused her authority for a "personal pun" that did not fit this game and then permanently punishes me for honest statements about her wrong doings. I get no hearing, no grievance -- just one post per day because that is what MissScarlett has decided to do against me for saying what happened. FYI: “Hazz” is harrylime on Kibitzer Café.

MissScarlett: The Strand is effectively <Ground Zero> of nineteenth-century chess history. Read the other day that van Gogh, who lived in London for a large part of 1873-1875, was a devotee of the illustrated newspaper, <The Graphic>, which was the main rival at the time to the <Illustrated London News>, at which Staunton worked till his death in 1874. Both papers' offices were located on the Strand, and van Gogh must have known them well, as he worked at Goupil's which was just off the Strand. The Strand was also home to such storied titles as the <Field>, <Era>, and <Bell's Life>. Within about a 20 minute radius, you have the sites of a host of iconic chess clubs/resorts - Westminster, St. George's, London, Percy, British, Philidorian, City of London, Goode's, Kling's, Gliddon's, etc. Should take about 8-9 hours, if we hurry.
