Black had so many opportunities for challenge such as playing an early h5 to stop white's king side attack. Or castling earlier and trying for a pawn break. Instead, plays white game in very poor form. |

I cannot tell you how often I've played against MacChess and won not out of tactical prowess, but simply because I push kingside pawns in the opening and the program castles right into danger. If he would have sacrificed his knight for three pawns he would have had a dominant position with a passt pawn on the E file and a dominant center. He should have played 13. .. e5xd4, followed by 14. .. Bb7, removing the Bf1xb5+ threat stopping the white queen from getting to the e5 square, and black would be completely winning. He could take the b6 pawn whenever he wanted. |
