Chessical: Macdonnell shows that he can attack using the Evan's Gambit.

<10.e5> may be a little premature and later 10.Nc3 h6 was played instead.

<14...c5> seems to be the cause of De Labourdonnais' troubles, it seems safer to play <14...h6> 15.Nf3 c5 first.

<19...Bd7?> is a blunder under pressure, De Labourdonnais could have played:

<19...Ne4> 20.Qe3 Qxf2+ 21.Qxf2 Nxf2 22.Bxf2 Rxf2 23.Kxf2 Kf8 with a pawn for the exchange.

Jul-22-05  Knight13: If Black lasted until the endgame he can win it without any problems. But he screwed up!

9... Nf6 gives Black a bit problem. Better is 9... Ne7.

White's brilliant play sure is impressive~

Dec-30-05  Curado: Black's 15th move...R-f8 condemns his king to the center. Black is 2 pawns up. Why not give back some material for king safety and development? 15....... Nxf7

Jun-07-08  derek.mourad: i believe white should play 6 d4 then 7 Qb3 no matter what
Feb-04-12  Knight13: Not much to comment here but that this is the ideal kind of game that White wants to get when playing the Evans Gambit.
Feb-04-12  Knight13: <Chessical> But do you know what the REAL problem of Black is in this game? Greed.
Jul-08-12  e4 resigns: <i believe white should play 6 d4 then 7 Qb3 no matter what> I think you are correct!
For a better transposition,
1. e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4 Bc5 4.b4 Bxb4 5.c3 Bc5 6.d4 exd4 7. 0-0 d6 8.cxd4 Bb6 is one way to reach the normal position.
I don't agree with 9.h3, preferring 9.Nc3 as 9...Bg4 is not the worst.
