joegalby: nice finish by the maestro
Jul-25-13  JimNorCal: After the self-pin 30. Bd2, things go downhill rapidly. Still, I can understand holding back from 30. c4 because the black knight would jump to d4.

Seems like 33. ... Bxc3 wins a pawn, though Nimzo prefers another path.

Jan-27-15  suenteus po 147: I don't think 33...Bxc3 wins a pawn. Can't white respond with 34.Rxc3?

White played 36. Bf4 which lost to an eventual knight-fork on e3.

He could have played 36. Bc1.

Then, after the exchange of all the rooks we would have this position:

...White is a pawn down but he would have some hope.

Blumich played a bad move in this game:

Black is going to play 23...Nxe5. White could have tried 23. Bf4 Ndxe5 24. Qh5. But he didn't. He decided that he would let the e5 pawn go. That is a reasonable decision. But to do so he played 23. Qg4? Black played 23...Ndxe5 and the Queen had to immediately go back: 24. Qe2.

A bit of a waste.
