Mar-10-06  Knight13: Demonstrates the power of the Center and good developement.
Mar-21-11  ForeverYoung: amazing tactical game. Anderson fights back gamely with a counterattack out of nowhere and Steintz holds on and triumphs with a tactic.
Jan-31-12  Knight13: <ForeverYoung: amazing tactical game. Anderson fights back gamely with a counterattack out of nowhere and Steintz holds on and triumphs with a tactic.> Anderssen gave his best on the Kingside, but no where near enough.

22.Qb4!! would have quietened Prof Anderssen's hash down to an inaudible murmur.

Eg, 22...Rhb8 23.Qxb8!!

kingscrusher: Everything seems corrected here from White's perspective from my analysis of an earlier round where premature e5 was played. Bb3 helps support Ba4+ - and also the h3 idea helps improve White's h1 rook. The whole game does demonstrate there are various positional improvements to be made before committing like the earlier disaster game of the match:

Steinitz vs Anderssen, 1866

12.e5 in the earlier round was really like not waiting for the toast to be done before taking it out of the toaster. Things in good time before e5. This game shows more patience and getting the position in a good enough state first before making anything too commital.
