Jan-15-07  HoopDreams: i love playing this opening against the french and ashley plays it a lot !
May-24-10  williscreek: During the May 24, 2010 U.S. Championship broadcast Ashley said that this was home prep and that he played slowly to disguise that fact.
Apr-08-13  Balmo: This is a hell of a game from Maurice.

WannaBe: I tend to use this against the French, if 4...dxc4 5. Bxd4 and I have development, plus it gets black out of book relatively quick.

Since I am too lazy to study how to handle the French, I try to go off book ASAP. =)

Jul-13-15  Tomlinsky: This very clean win in a French Exchange earned Ashley his first GM Norm. Maurice was tipped off by GM Waitzkin to an improvement in this line (12.Qc2) shortly after the game Waitzkin vs Shabalov, 1993 where 12.Qe1 didn't turn out too well against the same opponent, losing in 27 moves.
Jul-10-16  Poisonpawns: I think Shabba the complete idea of 18.Re4! which was a tremendous shot.Which was to follow with Qf4!
Jul-10-16  NBZ: Crazy tactics, loved the last half of the game.

You can trust Shabalov to keep things interesting!
