plang: The 4..c5 line has long perplexed me. In all the books I have on the Nimzo Indian 5 dxc is the only move mentioned; 5 Nf3 and 5 e3 look perfectly reasonable to me. I Sokolov says that the purpose to 6 a3 is to avoid the knight maneuver ..Na6, Nxc5 and Ne4. 8..Nd4 initiates a long simplifying line leading to an endgame that is slightly better for white. 21 Nb5 was an interesting positional pawn sacrifice. Kasparov provided exhausting analysis for 26 g4 saying that it gave white a close to winning position. Others were not convinced. Kramnik offered a draw after 27..Rxe1+. Kasparov later exressed anger at this saying "How can you offer a draw in a lost position?".
