Oct-11-03  ivan2kilu: Wow, Nf3!! is brilliant!
Oct-11-03  Shadout Mapes: In all serioussness, 5.d4 Bb6 6. Nf3 gives white a very nice position.
Oct-11-03  Alchemist: White gambits a pawn, loses in 6. I'm glad i'm not that guy.
Mar-25-04  ArturoRivera: I wonder if these guys do ever know how to play or are just some kind of dumb idiots saying, hellow world, i just learned to play chess!
Apr-21-05  soberknight: White was too embarrassed to give his full name.
Oct-06-05  AlexanderMorphy: <soberknight> LOL yeah this must be the shortest game in this database, the so called B R is a complete idiot...
Apr-11-06  MorphyMatt: <AlexanderMorphy> LOL ur wrong see Janosevic vs Geller, 1968
May-15-06  FiveMinutesToWapner: In the king's gambit, is Nf3 the only acceptable second move? Is Bc4 Ok, provided that, if the queen comes in, you don't screw it up like this BR guy? It destroys the o-o.
May-15-06  refutor: 3.Bc4 is fine

3.Bc4 Qh4+ 4.Kf1 has been played dozens of times, it is okay because you can "castle by hand" and also gain a tempo kicking the queen with Nf3, like he tried here :)

one of the advantages of 3.Bc4 is that it avoids the fischer defense

Sneaky: 3.Bc4 is preferred by many GMs, inasmuch as they "prefer" to play the hoary old King's gambit at all.

See Judit Polgar tear up with Bc4 here ... http://www.chessgames.com/perl/ches...

and Fischer here http://www.chessgames.com/perl/ches...

Jun-11-06  FiveMinutesToWapner: Thanks. I appreciate that. Once I read your comment, I immediately looked up this so called 'Fischer defense'. ha ha...

Phony Benoni: I take it that this is not the true Greco Variation.
Feb-18-09  laskereshevsky: If!......
we're considering this miniature game like a "Toccata and fugue", the B R - WAGNER could mean: BY RICHARD WAGNER....

Who knows,... maybe this is only a "SCHERZO"....

(10'000 CHESSBUCKS FOR THOSE WHO ARE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND THIS JOKE WITHOUT CHECKING WIKIPEDIA!!!)....

Domdaniel: Yes. Sigh. I get it already. But 'checking wikipedia' - especially when done in ALL CAPS - is likely to lead one astray. I bet it says that Wagner was anti-Semitic because the Israelis shot up Bayreuth ...

There's a simpler explanation. Wagner should be *Wagoner*. 'BR' stands for 'British Rail'. And this was a training game.
