Kibitzer's Corner
Jul-18-04  Everett: Seirawan employs the Samisch set-up against the Reti opening and simply crushes Korchnoi here. Ouch
Jul-18-04  Dudley: If 28.exN f5 29.Kh3 Kd7 and white is waiting to be checkmated. As played, 30.ef Rh4+ and a.31.Kg2 Nf4+ 32.BxN exB or b.31.Kg3 Nf4 32.BxN exB and I think black will checkmate or cause material loss shortly.
Jul-19-04  Cyphelium: <Dudley> If 28. exd5, then 28.- f5 seems inexact, since white can prolong the struggle with 29. f3. Then the position is not so clear, for example 29.- e4+ 30. Kh1 Rg3 31. Rb2. It is better to play (after 28. exd5) 28.- Kd7 immediatly. Then mate is unavoidable and black only plays f5 when he has too, e.g. 29. Kh3 f5.

And after 30. exf5, the best is probably 30.- Nf6!, covering the rook and keeping the mate threat.

Jul-21-04  Dudley: Yes that seems more logical than the early early f5.
May-13-06  MagnaPsygnosis: Korchnoi is a brilliant chessplayer... and he is not just another GM on the block like Ponomariov and Carlsen, but rather a true champion, but Seirawan is even more powerfull
