Kibitzer's Corner
Nov-18-05  aktajha: Tal beautifully presses Timman's defences until they crack. Especially the end, in which Timman seems to think he might keep his defences; but Tal crushes them by another pawn push in stead of the probably suspected taking on e3.
Nov-18-05  euripides: 17 h3 looks suspect if White can't follow up with g4. The doubled pawns also reduce any White chances on the queen's side. I think Tal had a tremendous result in this tournament, after a rather lean period.
Dec-01-14  Mating Net: This is an under rated game by Tal. It bears the typical hallmarks of the Magician from Riga in his prime. A piece sacrifice followed by a mating attack.

I really like the last 2 pawn pushes, ...f4 & ...f3. No way Tal goes wrong by capturing the offered Knight when the enemy King is in his sights.

Dec-30-14  Wyatt Gwyon: <Mating Net> I totally agree. Tal completely outplays Timman-- positionally -- in working up the attack. 14...Bxc3! renders white's dark square bishop a sad piece for the remainder of the game, while Tal's king sits in permanent safety on the end of the diagonal while he methodically builds up the attack. Instructive stuff.
Feb-03-17  karlmarx2000: Nice game by Tal..
Apr-15-18  Toribio3: Mikhail Tal was known as master of attack. In this game, he demonstrated his killing machine.
Apr-16-18  morfishine: Timmnan's unmatched resourcefulness in brilliancies created by opponent's will endure in chess lore forever
