jaime gallegos: It would be real or created following Reti vs Tartakower 1910 ?
Sep-30-04  fasting: your right jaime, somehow it looks like a funny black reconstruction!
Dec-12-06  Hot Logic: A very novel mating idea.
Dec-15-07  sambo: In "The Chess Player's Bedside Book," Bott and Morrison give the ending as 11. Kxd1 Bg4++ 12. resigns

Incidentally, they also write "It is to JN Sugden that Raymond Keene attributes much of his early interest and success at chess, as pupils together at Dulwich College. The game illustrated below was played by Sugden for that formidable junior club- Mushrooms CC."

I believe Master Keene posts on this site; anything to add about Sugden? This is indeed a fun litle game.

ray keene: the game is real- as to games between myself and sugden-sugden and i played over a hundred games against each other when we were in the age range 12-15-sugden has competed several times in the british championship and was top board for st johns college cambridge-he also of course represented cambridge in the annual varsity match v oxford.

i learnt a lot by playing him but i wonder also if by playing me so much he felt his own talent somewhat oppressed, since i won the clear majority of the games we played. we also had five decisive results in formal tournaments apart from the early school games -in these i won four and sugden won one- strangely i was black in every single one of those games.

Apr-23-10  Cibator: It was real all right. Played in a match Mushrooms v Coulsdon & Purley (and I believe Mr Dutch's initials were R J). First published in that excellent but tragically short-lived UK magazine "Junior Chess", c1963.

GrahamClayton: Coulsdon and Purley Urban District was a local government district in northeast Surrey from 1915 to 1965. Mushrooms was a club founded in the early sixties by a group of strong, young players who found they were not getting the recognition they deserved from existing, stick-in-the-mud clubs. Originally based in the Croydon area, the Mushrooms CC's only games are matches in the London League:
