  Honza Cervenka: When black played 26...Rac8?, he probably saw that 27.Nxe5?? loses for 27...Nxe5 28.Rxc5 (28.Kg3 Qb6 ) 28...Nexf3+ but he missed that after 27.Kg3! his Queen has no good field for retreat out of X-ray of white Rook. It was necessary to play 26...b5 or 26...Bb5 to avoid a catastrophe.
May-31-19  zydeco: After 38....Kf8 39.Bf5 the knight is trapped and can be won with 40.Rh7.

If instead 28.Kxg4 black gets complications with 28....Qf2.
