Kibitzer's Corner
Aug-09-05  Robin001: Black needs to play 9. ...Nf6 to have any kind of chance. 9. ...Qxd4 is a losing move. Book was all booked up for this game.

Phony Benoni: In his tournament book for Warsaw 1935, Reinfeld points out that this debacle is due in part to Black's 5...f5. This is the playable Siesta Varation against 5.c3, but a blunder against 5.c4.

The reason comes at move 9. In the Siesta, Black can play 9...bxc6 10.Bg5+ Nf6 11.dxe5 Qd5!, as 12.exf6+ gxf6 exploits the pinned bishop. However, in the present game, 11...Qd5 would be barred by the pawn on c4.

Apr-10-09  whiteshark: After <9...Nf6 10.Qxe5+ Kf7 11.Bd5+ Nxd5 12.cxd5 Bd6 13.Qh5+ g6 14.Qh6 Bf5>

Black's position is near-complete consolidated.
