Nov-07-05  SEMENELIN: 30. Rd3 Nxd3
Nov-07-05  SEMENELIN: probably Nd7??
Nov-07-05  checkpat: If f6 then Qd5+ followed by Qd8!
Nov-07-05  crafty: 30. ... ♔f8 31. ♖d2 f6 32. ♕xf4 ♔g8 33. ♕e4 ♔h8   (eval 1.73; depth 11 ply; 100M nodes)

  offramp: How about ...f5?
Nov-07-05  lentil: 30. Nxd3 Qxe8+
Nov-07-05  Dionyseus: Carlsen's 23...Rbe8 was a mistake, Nxf3+ was probably correct.
Nov-07-05  SEMENELIN: its too late for the king to protect its rook probably carlsen's opponent is sensing a silent move.
Nov-07-05  SEMENELIN: its hard to be black and offer a nimzoindian game. =)
Nov-07-05  SEMENELIN: <Dionyseus > i agree with you. Bishops are very tricky during endgames.
Nov-07-05  SEMENELIN: Nd7 is better in my opinion.
Nov-07-05  cade: White wins easily now.
Nov-07-05  SEMENELIN: but again maybe not. =)
Nov-07-05  checkpat: Qd5 and its over!
Nov-07-05  Gabriel315: I was pondering on a QxRch move for white but i guess R v Kn endings are not in favor
Nov-07-05  SEMENELIN: its over =(
Nov-07-05  KingG: Agdestein missed two clear wins earlier(obviously he is in terrible time trouble so you can't really blame him).

29 Rb3! was completely winning, 29...Qe6 30 Rb8 Nd3+ 31 Kd2! Qxe4 32 Rxe8+ Qxe8 33 c8Q

30 Rc5! also wins, 30...Qd7+ 31 Kc2 Nxf3 32 Qxe8+ Qxe8 33 c8Q

Nov-07-05  Catfriend: 21 second per move, for white! It's crazy.. But Agdestein keeps playing quite well even in such situation! Well done!
Nov-07-05  Gabriel315: now i would assume that white is forced to prevent QxG2ch by keeping his queen on the 8-H diagonal
Nov-07-05  lentil: 37. ...Qb6 defends against Rd8, threatens the R/d4 and some checks along the 2nd rank
Nov-07-05  Catfriend: <King> By "so much" you mean 43 seconds? :)

There was a computer glitch showing 47 minutes for Agdestein, but it disappeared after a second.

Nov-07-05  KingG: <Catfriend> Yeah, that's why i deleted the message. :-)
Nov-07-05  lentil: sorry, ddn't mean to sound like a banal lecturer.... was posting as it was played

tpstar: <SEMENELIN> I think the Nimz-Indian is fine for Black (especially on Nimzovich's birthday ;>D) but less successful when combined with ... d5 opening up the center. I prefer ... c5 aiming for a Huebner/Leningrad and keeping the center closed.

Looks like the teacher can instruct the pupil about the power of passed Pawns plus a weak back rank. And the pupil can instruct the teacher about clock management. =)

Nov-07-05  KingG: Well, he played it safe to make time control, but 40 Rd7 was the quickest win.
