Kibitzer's Corner
Dec-19-06  kevin86: of course, white can exchange queens at f2,but black would have the opposition and despite being a pawn down, the draw is certain.
Nov-29-07  talisman: 35.Qf4 for white!?
Mar-19-08  positionalgenius: A masterful game- enjoyable to watch
Jun-30-09  Knight13: <talisman: 35.Qf4 for white!?> 35... Qc5+ 36. Kg1 (Qf2 Bd4 and White's queen gets screwed over) Bf6. Good for Black.
Feb-07-10  nelech: "A grandiose battle " Kasparov
Jun-25-13  csmath: One of the most brilliant draws in the history of WC matches. This game exemplifies both Karpov and Kasparov in their styles. Active defence Kasparov undertook in the game not only saved him but also allowed him to have energy for the play. At this point Seville Exchange was not yet exhausted because of the impression of this brilliant game.
Apr-20-15  Howard: Kasparov claims that Karpov had good winning chances in this game.

But where ?!

Jan-30-16  Howard: To repeat....where ?
Dec-07-16  Finnishplayer: Karpov claims that 35.Qf4! and 37.Rf3! would have won.

Kasparov writes in "On Modern Chess Part 3" that neither of these attempts win. He writes that 33.Qf4! would have probably won and 37. Re1! would have given better winning chances than the game continuation.

Feb-06-21  fisayo123: Yep. Great game. Karpov's idea of a4 -Ra2 -Qb1 Qb3 makes an impression in reaction to Kasparov's idea to undermine the over expansion on the kingside with h6 -gxh5, gxh4
Mar-09-22  Woahzees: Would 35. Rd1 win?

offramp: I want to give my VERY IMPORTANT opinion about this game....

Seriously, I do not think that anyone will know the UPSHOT of this interesting game.

I think we will discover the "win" in about 2030. Seriously!

Karpov had ♖+♙♙ v ♗♙♙♙♙.

...but earlier Karpov had chances, he says. This was game 7 and as Karpov says, "a win was gold".

BTW, I BEG you to ignore the first 20 moves. It is the dreariest theory since the invention of the Berlin.
