Dec-07-12  Wyatt Gwyon: I'd hang this game on the fridge. Quite a scalp.

  Phony Benoni: A little sidelight: the finish of this game appeared on the hotel's closed circuit television channel. The game they had been covering ended early, and somebody made inspired decision to switch to this one.

The Wonders of Technology, twenty-five years ago.

Feb-05-18  RookFile: Something like 40.....Bc4 would have led to a draw. The computer prefers 40....Bd1 with the idea of ....Qe2 and a queen trade.
Feb-05-18  Granny O Doul: Well sure, Black was clearly trying to squeeze blood from a stone. I suppose he missed that his 40...a5 allows White to invade on the seventh while still keeping f2 under guard.
Feb-05-18  Ironmanth: Nasty overextend by GM Biguier. Inside story: Arthur was always a great one for a story in his NY accent. A wonderful breakfast companion at several, many, World Opens! RIP, sir!
Feb-05-18  goodevans: I think it's no coincidence this is chosen as GOTD the day after the Eagles' NFL victory.

Carson Wentz may well be my favourite QB but I think it's great the Eagles can confound their doubters and continue to win without him.

New England Patriots 33

Super Bowl LII was a classic that went down to the last play!! The two teams combined for 1,151 total yards, 54 first downs, 74 points, and a whopping record 8.9 yards per play.

Back-up quarterback "Saint" Nick Foles was named the MVP. Foles finished with 373 yards on 28-of-43 passing with three touchdowns and one interception (which was not his fault).

Feb-05-18  dumbgai: That interception was such a fluke play. It was a great throw and a good attempt by the receiver that just had the unluckiest (or luckiest if you’re the Patriots) bounce.

What a crazy game. I think there was only one punt all game.

  saffuna: Plus the interception was as good as a punt. The Pats got the ball on their own six, as good as if the pass had fallen incomplete and they'd had to punt.
Feb-05-18  morfishine: Great Eagles victory! Brady throws for 505 yds & 3 td's but loses?

Just shows how porous the Pats defense was all year and yesterday.

Feb-06-18  RookFile: The Patriots defense was fine after week 5. The didn't play Butler at all, which was crazy, and Foles picked on his replacements all day long.
Jan-18-20  Cibator: I'd have punned this as "Ware* Eagle's Dare". Never mind.

* Archaic form of "beware".
