I don`t think so! |

|
Sep-07-10 | | whiteshark: Curious ind33d as Big Database also gives it a white win. But von Kolisch won this match vs Rosenthal 7:1 whereof 5 wins of v.K. have no moves (or have been lost/not reported). |

Jun-01-14 | | pawngrabber: Nevertheless, all sources agree, that white has won! That is for sure.
As the position was obviously won after 41...Dxd3 for black, it was considerate of Kolisch to report his superior play and there was no need, to point to the blunder, which happened to him. As I noticed, 41...Dxd3 was not the last move of this game. |

Jun-01-14 | | sfm: There are several ways to lose a chess game:
1. Mate
2. Resignation
3. Not keeping time controls when playing
4. Not showing up (in time or at all) for the game
5. Forfeiting due to unsportsmanlike behavior
6. Back from the time when there were adjourned games: sealing an illegal move. (Before that you had to make a move with the king if your sealed move was illegal. At times a player would use this to his advantage in an endgame where it was clear that a king move had to be played, but not which move. Solution: write an illegal move - and there is time to find the right king move in the home analysis. The rules were changed!) 7. Today: have your mobile phone ringing.
8. Dying. No, this is not 3). Event if the player has several hours left on this clock there is still no good reason not to claim the point right away. Hmm. Best bet: the result is wrong. |

As I noticed, 41...Dxd3 was not the last move of this game.> What sources? Schachzeitung, assuming you are quoting it correctly, screwed up, and one or more databases repeated its error. Or maybe it didn't screw up, and this was one of those 19th century matches in which the players had the same color in every game, and Rosenthal had black in this one, even though he moved first. |
