Kibitzer's Corner
Oct-16-11  sneaky pete: In time trouble the players stopped recording the moves. After 39.Nxh5+ .. Van der Weide believed he had made the required 40 moves and went to get a drink at the bar.
Jul-12-17  syracrophy: <27...♘h1> is listed #54 in Tim Krabbe's <110 Most Fantastic Moves> compilation: https://timkr.home.xs4all.nl/chess/...

bright1: <sneaky pete> Thank you for the explanation. I was stumped why white resigned the endgame.

An Englishman: Good Evening: This game took place in Rd. 2. Ligterink finished all alone in first, van der Weide finished last. Can't help but wonder what might have happened had White postponed his drink.
Sep-03-23  Ilkka Salonen: What is white's best move in the position? Even g3 comes to mind.
Sep-03-23  Atking: Morality: it is not good to drink a beer on the move 39.
