Phony Benoni: <Shams> Of course I'm jealous. I've never had a reason to kibitz on move 142.

AylerKupp: Why was this declared a draw per the 50-move rule on move 240? The last pawn move was 40.h4 so a draw per the 50-move rule could have been claimed (by Amin, presumably) on move 90. Or, since the draw must be claimed, they could have played the game forever (or at least until Amin needed a bio-break). Maybe that should be the computer's anti-human strategy; continue playing until the human cannot resist the urge to go and then win on time! LOL.

Alas, a catheter would be the human's anti-anti-human strategy, particularly if it's large enough.

And pity poor Transwarp, a year earlier when this game was played, Bacrot vs TransWarp, 2008, its rating was listed as 3755. A 300-point rating decline in a year!

Perhaps you were too awestruck by the intricate movement of the pieces to notice 89...h6!!! A mere 50 moves later, Black uncorked 139...h5!!!! (Maybe !!!?)

Jun-01-13  meir: I am not surprised if computer performed some complex calculations when doing these moves on his board side.

Teyss: This is in my personal top 10 game list.

Also in there is I Nikolic vs G Arsovic, 1989.
However B Fellowes vs P Lalic, 2024 is not included because it inappropriately ends by a decisive result.

offramp: Games over 200 moves were unknown, until the well-known I Nikolic vs G Arsovic, 1989.

With the internet age, 200+ games are now fairly common.

Stockfish and AlphaZero played at least 33 games over 200 moves, all drawn. They played a dozen games of 255 moves: computers cannot calculate beyond 2^8-1. Gotta getta betta poota dude.

Oct-22-24  JohnBoy: For the last 200 moves white had nothing. But black had some speck of play with a -g5 lever. Consider around 130. Why does not black trade queens, put a B on e7, bring the king to g7, and play -g5? Is there some problem w the black position after this?

offramp: There are very few chess games that have zero redeeming qualities. This game is a non-starter. It is one of the worst games of all time. It needs a massive kick up its arse, then thrown into the puddle.

Have you seen Mr Samuel Beckett's <QUAD>? It is very good, AND it's only 5 minutes.

<Quad> really looks like this silly game.

Oct-22-24  Ilkka Salonen: What a great thing to have computers and executives in the world! Our former prime minister is set to receive a prize from the King of Sweden and I hope she didn't get molested by him. It is different lineage, you know, so we owe no allegiance to them.
Oct-22-24  Saniyat24: Lol, the pun...!
